The problem we solve for government
Announcements go out on radio and in the press, on Facebook pages with uncertain ownership, and through WhatsApp forwards that are impossible to verify. Citizens cannot tell an official notice from a rumour. Consultation is expensive and slow. Feedback rarely reaches the right desk.
BenueConnect gives each institution a single Official account — verified, blue-badged and impossible to impersonate — that publishes into the communities where its citizens already are. Every ward in Benue has a community; every message can be targeted to exactly the people it concerns.

Capabilities
What an Official account can do.
Notices
Announcements, service updates and public information — pinned at the top of the target LGA or ward community, and listed in the Public Square.
Consultations
Ask citizens a question with a poll and a closing date. Results are visible in real time; you publish the outcome when it closes.
Alerts
Urgent health, safety, flood or security information. Every member of the target community receives a notification immediately.
Precise targeting
Statewide, one LGA, or one of 276 wards. An LGA account speaks to its own communities; a ministry speaks to all.
Questions & issues
Citizens ask questions and report issues to your account in public, with their LGA attached. Answer once, and everyone sees it.
Official events & opportunities
Town halls, programmes, tenders, scholarships and recruitment — posted with the Official badge and targeted by LGA.
Getting your institution onto BenueConnect
- 1Register the accountCreate an account in the institution’s name (e.g. “Otukpo Local Government” or “Ministry of Agriculture”), using an official email or phone. Choose “Institution” as the account type.
- 2Request Official verificationIn Settings → Verification, submit the institution’s details, the authorising officer’s identity and an official letter of authorisation.
- 3Review and assignmentOur team verifies the request with the institution. On approval the account becomes Tier 3 “Official”, receives the blue badge, and an LGA account is assigned to its LGA.
- 4PublishThe “Publish to the Public Square” option appears in your composer. Post your first notice; it is pinned in the target community and listed in the Official directory.
Trust & accountability
Built so citizens can believe what they read.
Confirmed
Every member: phone or email confirmed, real name, placed in an LGA and ward.
Verified
Identity or registration documents reviewed — businesses, organisations, community leaders, media.
Official
Government bodies only. Blue badge, exclusive right to publish notices, consultations and alerts. Cannot be self-assigned.
Official publications cannot be edited by anyone but the account holder, are time-stamped, and remain on the public record. Impersonation of an official body is a banning offence.
Frequently asked
Is BenueConnect a government platform?
No. BenueConnect is an independent platform built for Benue State. Government bodies participate as verified Official accounts alongside citizens, businesses and communities.
Does it cost anything?
Official accounts and publishing to the Public Square are free for public institutions.
Who can post from an Official account?
The authorising officer controls the account credentials and can share them with a communications team. We recommend one account per institution, managed by the information or communications unit.
Can citizens reply?
Yes — members can comment on notices, vote in consultations and ask questions. Comments are moderated under the community standards; you may also report abusive replies.
How do we get help?
See the Help centre or contact the team from your account once registered.
